Prasanta K. Ghosh

Dr. Prasanta K. Ghosh, 76, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 after a brief illness. Dr. Ghosh was born in Kolkata, India, on March 29, 1941.

He received a B. S. Degree in Kolkata, India; and a Ph.D and M. D. here in the United States. After his studies, he worked at NIH. He later had a private practice in New York, and then in New Mexico he worked as a physician in Gallup, Las Vegas & Albuquerque.

Dr. Ghosh was a life-long scholar who always tried to increase his knowledge in many academic areas. He was fluent in Bengali, English and ancient Sanskrit.

He read and tried to follow the life and works of Swami Vivekananda, a Hindu monk. Dr. Ghosh was a most generous person to his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Saree Ghosh; two sisters Jharna De, in Kolkata, India, Chandasa Ghosh, in Michigan; one brother P. K. Ghosh, in Toronto, Canada. He is also survived by two nephews, Arnab De and John Ghosh; two nieces, Ayesha Hazra and Suzie Ghosh; two great-nephews, Korock Hazra and Aryan De; his grandson, Orion Piston; his step-daughter, Pamala Piston; as well as his long time partner, Kitty Long.

A small private service was held Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017 at the Cremation Society of New Mexico.
