Puri S. Gallegos Obituary
Gallegos, Puri S.

6/29/1927 - 2/20/2016

Purificacion "Puri" Salamero Gallegos passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 20, 2016.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria (nee Enciso) and Andres Salamero of Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines and sisters Juanita and Fe.

She is survived by sisters Nelli, Didi and Aida also of the Philippines.

She immigrated to the United States and settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1978 to raise her two children, Francia of Albuquerque and Joseph of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by granddaughter, Joey and grandson-in-law Robert and great grandson Kal.

A career teacher with a love of teaching children, she spent over 15 years with the Albuquerque Public Schools as a substitute and eventually a Teaching Assistant before retiring. Prior to immigrating to the US, she spent over 10 years teaching english in the Philippines both to native Filipinos and the Australian school as well as administrating the local scouting leagues.

An avid gardener who was often seen tending to her plants, her pride and joy was raising roses in the harsh New Mexico environment. Quick to start a conversation with a friendly demeanor, her sharp mind and quick wit, which was with her til the end, will be sorely missed.

Honoring her wishes to be interred with family, she will be placed in the family mausoleum with her parents and sisters in her hometown of Daet, Philippines.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations made in her name to Queen of Heaven Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
