Raymond "Ray" P. Goehner

Raymond "Ray" P. Goehner, age 72, a resident of Schaumburg, IL for 3 years and formerly a resident of Albuquerque, NM for 20 years, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2017. He was born July 23, 1945 in Jersey City, NJ to the late John and the late Sophia (nee Gerhardt) Goehner.

After receiving his B.S. in Physics from Wagner College and his M.S. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Ray built a very distinguished reputation in the diffraction field working at General Electric, Nicolet, and Siemens before managing a lab at Sandia National Laboratories. He became a member of the International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD) early in his career and remained to eventually serve on the Board of Directors in different capacities. Just last year, Ray was honored by the ICDD membership with the Distinguished Fellow Award.

Ray was the adoring husband of 48 years to Linda (nee Wnuk); loving father of Adam (Claudia) Goehner and Wendy (Jesse) Coffelt; proud grandfather of Melissa and Matthew Goehner and Lily and Ezra Coffelt; dear friend to many. He enjoyed traveling, biking, gardening, spicy food, and laughter. His kindness and unique sense of humor will be sorely missed by his loved ones.

Memorials in Ray's name can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association at
