Delgado, Richard Augustine



Richard Delgado, 73, passed away on May 14,2017.

He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Augustine Casanova Delgado and Guadalupe Jacques Delgado.

He earned a bachelor of music education from Texas Western College (now UTEP). He moved to Albuquerque for a position as an orchestra teacher with APS, while performing with the Albuquerque Symphony Orchestra (now NM Philharmonic), as a violinist. As another talent, photography, grew into a business, he opened Delgado's Photography, photographing hundreds of weddings and taking thousands of portraits. He received many awards including International Wedding Photographer of the Year & was recognized as a Master of Photography by the Professional Photographers of America. He loved to capture the beauty of NM in scenic photography. He also returned to teaching music, enjoying the two great passions of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jose and Armando.

He is survived by Willva Delgado; daughters Carolyn and Julie Delgado (Gary Wershum); son, Anthony Delgado (Susan); grandson, Stefan Delgado; grandaughter, Candace Elkins-Whitehead (Skyler); great-granddaughter, Noah Elkins-Whitehead; sister, Rita Delgado; brother-in-law, Jerry Bateman (Francy); nieces and a nephew.

A memorial will be Friday, May 19, 6:30 to 7:30pm Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE. Funeral Mass on Saturday, May 20 at 10:00am at St. Therese Church, 3424 4th St. NW with burial following at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE, Albuquerque.
