Richard Oliva Obituary
Oliva, Richard Francis

Richard Francis Oliva, age 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 12 years, died unexpectedly Tuesday, August 29, 2017.

He is survived by his three daughters, Christine Oliva, Abby Frances Oliva-Stewart and husband, Paul Stewart, and Molly Oliva and fiancee Sean Mortazavi; and other relatives and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Dominick and Mary Oliva; and brother, Robert Oliva.

He was born in 1943 in Queens, NY and graduated from Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, NY. Richard received his Bachelors of Science in Management in 2001 and Master's Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Global Business in 2002, both from Pepperdine. He obtained an additional Master's Degree in Education from National University. Richard taught 6th grade language arts at Jimmy Carter Middle School for the last decade. He also was active in the Teachers Union and PTO, and was instrumental in starting an Adult ESL Program. Richards passion was for his students and the greater community of Jimmy Carter. He loved the Arts and traveling the world, using those experiences in broadening the horizons of his students. Although he has lived in California and New Mexico, he has always been a New Yorker, loving the Knicks, the Giants, and most of all his beloved Yankees. Richard was a loving father, son, brother, coworker, teacher, and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.abqreads.com. Please visit our online guest book for Richard at
