Jenkins, Robert (Bob)

Robert (Bob) Jenkins, age 74 and long-time resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday October 22, 2016.

He is survived by his son Brian Jenkins and wife Leann of Albuquerque, daughter Sherryl and husband Glenn Pratt of Frisco, Texas, son David Smyer of Dallas, Texas, and son Stephen Smyer of Albuquerque, as well as seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Donald Jenkins of New York and his sisters Sharon Antolik and Caroline Burke of Pennsylvania along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marty Jenkins; brothers Freddy Jenkins,Jimmy Martindale, and Gerry Martindale; sisters Marilyn Oliver and Patty Cosma.

Bob was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He joined the United States Air Force in 1960 and served in the Air Police in France and Alamogordo, New Mexico. He received his bachelor's degree in Education from New Mexico State University and taught at Hoover Middle School where he was beloved by generations of students.

He enjoyed ten years of retirement and country living in East Texas before returning to Albuquerque. He loved golfing, landscaping, restoring vintage vehicles, building model trains, collecting coins, camping, and hunting.

He touched many with his sense of humor and his willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Stephens United Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, 87111 at 11am on Saturday, October 29th. Following cremation, he will be interred in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
