Souza, Robert Michael

Robert Michael Souza born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on 8/22/1956, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2017 in his sleep and has joined his beloved mother in heaven.

He is survived by his father, John Souza and his wife Connie Souza; a sister, Karen Hudspeth and her children Tyler Hudspeth and Trevor Hudspeth; and two brothers, John R. Souza, and his children Caroline Souza and Jason Souza and Steve Souza and his wife Terry and their children Tasha Montoya and Dawn Souza; and Mike's step sisters Cathy Gina and Robin Anderson. There are also many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his cousins Judy Plamondon and Michael Fernandes.

For Mike Souza, his 60 years on this planet ended but not before he had danced, worked with wood, and then turned an accident that put him in a wheelchair 16 years ago into an associate's degree from CNM. He was employed as a teaching assistant at APS' Hoover Middle School until he passed away. He was dearly loved and respected by teachers and students alike.

Although constantly in pain and discomfort, Mike took his accident in stride and was always working on his computer, researching, studying and reading. Mike was able to drive and enjoyed New Mexico fishing.

This quiet man with a sly smile and mind to match, read Tony Hillerman, and technical books. As with so many others, he was complicated and more than the sum of his family, friends, loves, and work. For many who knew him, he will be remembered as a person who lived the life he had, fully and with a heart of gold. Mike was loved by his family and friends and his sweet spirit and sense of humor will be missed.

Mike has a lot of faith in Jesus and God and we know he is finding comfort and happiness in heaven with his mother Lorraine Souza.
