Robin Read Obituary
Read, Robin (Brunelli)

Today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Manzano High School Performing Arts Center, we will honor and celebrate the life of Robin Read Brunelli. In doing so, we will honor and celebrate the potential that lies within each of us to achieve great things, to love deeply, and to profoundly touch people's lives. We invite you to join in our commemoration for any or all of these reasons.

A 1965 UNM graduate, in the 1970s and early 1980s, Robin distinguished herself as an Albuquerque realtor and as a beloved teacher and newspaper adviser at Manzano High School.

Heading to Washington DC in 1983, Robin was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in 1985 as a deputy to the Governors of the Federal Reserve Board. After her stellar performance at the Fed, Robin served from 1992 to 2012 as President and CEO of the National Foundation for Women Legislators.

Since Robin's passing on June 2nd, Speaker Paul Ryan has called Robin and her husband Sam Brunelli "the power couple for state government officials." U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi remembers Robin as "a tremendous trailblazer" who "strengthened our nation with her service, inspired generations with her leadership, and empowered others with her energetic resolve to create a better world."

And former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson says that as "one of our nation's most gifted, gracious and determined leaders," Robin "has done as much as any individual in American history to empower America's elected women leaders. From the Land of Enchantment to the shores of the Potomac and in all fifty state capitols, her influence, impact and legacy will be felt for decades."

Robin communicated to each of us in a way that stirred our heart, lifted our esteem, transformed our soul, and empowered us to live our life from our best self. For seven decades Robin blessed us daily with her lucid brilliance, compassion, love, wisdom, intelligence, and sense of excellence and achievement.

Robin was memorialized by her family and by public officials in Washington DC on June 22. This evening, Thursday, June 30th, we invite every Manzano High and UNM alumni and current and former instructor, everyone who knew Robin, and every person who would like to honor and celebrate one of our state's most renowned and beloved citizens and leaders to join our New Mexico Memorial Celebration Gathering for Robin Read Brunelli. Join us at the Manzano High Performing Arts Center from 7 to 8 p.m. Music begins at 6:30. Parking available at Wilson Stadium.
