Ronald Lee Bradsby Obituary
Bradsby, Ronald Lee

Ronald Lee Bradsby, age 79, passed away in his home in Albuquerque on Sunday, February 7, 2016. He was born on December 6, 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Raymond A. Bradsby and Amelia (Bauer) Bradsby and was the oldest of four boys. At a very young age his close knit family moved to Havelock, NE and was very involved in the community.

Ron enjoyed various sports. He and his family helped to manage the local softball field, he was named to the All-Conference football team, and he lettered in basketball. After graduating from Lincoln Northeast High School, Ron served in the US Army for two years. Upon returning, he married his high school sweetheart, Joan Brandeberry, on June 18, 1960. In 1964 he graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Forest Management.

Ron's entire career was dedicated to the USDA Forest Service. His career journey took him to various locations within New Mexico and Arizona. Along the way he made lifelong relationships with many of his colleagues.

They had two children, Ronnie and Lynda. As a family they lived in rural areas and enjoyed outdoor family activities such as picking wild berries, fishing, target shooting, chopping wood, and hunting for the perfect Christmas tree in the forest.

His hobbies and interests included pheasant hunting with his brothers, golfing, cheering on the Nebraska Cornhuskers, attending gun shows, singing and serving in his local church, and supporting his family and friends.

Left to honor Ron and remember his love are his wife Joan, his children, Ronnie (Mavis) Bradsby and Lynda Bustamante; three brothers, Raymond Keith (Marilyn) Bradsby, Larry (Shirley) Bradsby, and Richard (Phyllis) Bradsby; grandchildren, Jordan Bustamante, Reba Bradsby and Ray Bradsby; nieces and nephews, Carrie (Randy) Sclar, Richard (Veronica) Bradsby, Robyn (Sean) Roberts, Dari (Matt) Robinson, Todd Bradsby, Tim (Ashley) Bradsby, Amy (Tim) Wing and Renee Alfaro. Ron was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Olivia Bradsby.

Ron will be remembered for his smile, Smokey Bear-like hugs, and his caring and warm nature. In his last years, the dedication to the care of his wife, Joan, was beyond description truly expressing his deep love for her.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 27, at 11:00 am at Sandia Presbyterian Church located at 10704 Paseo del Norte NE, Albuquerque.
