Roy Ross Williams

Roy Ross Williams, age 89, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017. He was born in Albuquerque, graduated from Alb. High, and worked 34 years at Sandia Labs participating in some of the early atomic bomb tests, he worked on rocket sleds, high-speed photography, explosives, and pulse power. He enjoyed playing steel and rhythm guitar, the fiddle, and the mandolin in many bands for most of his life. A highlight was getting to play with notables Glen Campbell, Dick Bills and Merle Haggard. He lived with his wife Arlene for 37 years in Edgewood and enjoyed traveling with her on a trike motorcycle to Alaska three different times.

He is survived by his four children, Mark Williams of Alb., Lynn, Lynda and Lane Williams of Colorado Springs; five step children, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Salek and his second wife, Arlene Williams .

Graveside services are at the Stanley Cemetery near Moriarty at 1:00 pm, Friday, December 8, 2017
