In September of that year she enrolled at Bethany Peniel College in Bethany, OK. She was proud of finishing two years there and paying for every penny of it herself. Ruth then moved back to Albuquerque and lived at the Y.W.C.A. and worked as a nurse's aide. She met Keith Edwin Gawith, Jr. who was in the Air Force from Washington State, and they were married on September 28, 1957. Keith and Ruth loved to travel and have traveled to all the 50 states, along with Canada and Mexico. Her faith in God was very strong. She became a Christian at the age of eight years old and attended church all her life. She was a long time member of the Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir. She also sang in the Young at Heart Choir for several years.
