Growing up in a military family, Sara lived in many locations throughout the United States and in Germany. She attended the University of Kansas and Wichita State University, where she was awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Education.

While attending college at Wichita State University, Sara met Dennis Lendzion, who would be her husband for almost 50 years. They were married in October, 1967. After receiving her Bachelor's Degree, Sara taught at an elementary school in Wichita, KS while Denny completed his graduate studies.

Sara rejoined the military community when Denny became a pilot in the USAF and they had 21 years of great military service together, living in places such as Madrid, Spain and three locations in Germany, finally retiring in 1990 at Luke AFB, AZ. Sara taught school at many of these locations. While in Europe she loved to ski and race Porsches, winning many Porsche Club races. In 1991 she and Denny moved to Keller, TX. Denny flew for American Airlines and Sara taught school there and also for nine years at the Federal Corrections Institute in Seagoville, where she taught GED and English As A Second Language.

In 2009, they moved to Albuquerque to join her family. She and her three sisters took responsibility for the daily care of her dad and they did a wonderful job in maintaining his happiness and well-being. She and her husband maintained a lakeside cabin on Lake Texoma for the past 26 years, and enjoyed camping at their Colorado ranch.
