Cason, Sarah Mildred

Sarah Mildred Cason, 82, of Estanca, NM was born on May 18, 1934 in Clovis, NM. Millie was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister & friend. She went to her rest on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at 7:10 pm. She is awaiting Jesus' return, to take her to heaven. Millie died after a long battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig's disease).

Millie was born to Joe and Maurine Caywood, the fourth of seven children.

Even as a child, Millie made the biscuits and milked the cows. She graduated from high school in Vaughn, NM and went to a business school. She worked at Sandia National Laboratories as a secretary and for Manzano Day School in the business office. She married Jim Collier and they had two daughters, Linda and Susan. In 1981 she married Bryan W. Cason.

Millie enjoyed gardening, bowling, Sudoku, cross stitching, crafts, tennis. She even coached girls softball.

Millie helped start the Bella Notte Restaurant in Estancia which supported the Liberty Ranch Christian School. Millie & Bryan have continued to support the school & restaurant.

Upon joining the East Mountain Seventh Day Adventist Church in Edgewood in 2008, Millie was very active with church potlucks; she made the best desserts. Millie was a deaconess at the church also.

The family would like to thank Frankie and Cheyenne Gasson, Anita and Ed Severance, Jennifer Pharo, Ruthella Terhune, Alan, Carla, Nikki and Kelsey Carlson, Janis Pettus, Jane Syferd, Bob Leininger, Sherrie Brady, Phyllis Foster, Cathy Ketterer, Sheila Merritt, Nick and Tricia Griffin, Bob Plott, Ed and Mary Bragg, and all the hospice workers who gave extraordinary care of Millie while she was home. Many thanks to her church and all those who held her up in prayer.

She is survived by her husband, Bryan of 36 years; her daughters, Susan Holloway, Amarillo TX and Linda Krueger, Albuerque, NM; her siblings, Dorothy Rolan (deceased), Nadine, White, Larry Caywood, Virginia Cooper, Phyllis Arnold and Joseph Caywood & grandchildren, Keith Krueger and Jessica Krueger, Alb, NM.

Services will be at 12 noon on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the East Mountain Seventh Day Adventist Church, located approximately 2 miles east of Edgewood, NM on Hwy 333 (Old Route 66). Turn North (left) on William's Ranch Road if coming from Edgewood and go over the freeway. Turn West at first left after the bridge and follow the road aroud to the church with the steeple on the right. If coming from Moriarty, go west on Hwy 333 (Old Route 66) 8.5 miles to Williams Ranch Road and turn north (right), then turn West at first left after bridge.

Lunch will be served immediately after service.
