Sharon Munson Obituary
Munson, Sharon Helen Plumley

Sharon Helen Plumley Munson, age 69, lost her brave battle with adrenal cancer on Sunday, September 11, 2016. She was born in 1946 to Oscar Harris Wilson and Betty Nicodemus Wilson in Miami, Florida. Sharon grew up in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida and Johnson City, Tennessee. Sharon was a classmate of Steve Spurrier's at Science Hill High School, a fact she was proud of until her final day. She was a mother to Mark Raymond Plumley and married to Charles Plumley in Newcastle, Wyoming. Sharon decided to return to college following Chuck's death. She graduated with a teacher's degree from Black Hills State College in Spearfish, South Dakota. Sharon moved to New Mexico in 1989 to take her first teaching job at the school in Mosquero, New Mexico, where she taught High School English and Art for three years. She then taught two years in Animas, New Mexico and then one year in Elida, New Mexico before taking her final teaching assignment at Monzano Vista Middle School in Los Lunas. On September 21, 1996 she married Thom Allen Munson, whom she always described as her soul mate. Together they settled into the family home in Belen, New Mexico. Sharon retired in 2006 to care for her mother, Betty, who had cancer and lived at the home until her death on New Year's Eve in 2008. Sharon then took an even more active role in her husband, Thom's successful jewelry business, TAM Star Designs, designing jewelry and joining him at the various art festivals and museum showings in which they sold their jewelry. Her love for her husband was legendary and she described this time as the most joyous of her life.

Sharon was preceded in death by her wonderful parents; "Buddy" and Betty Wilson; and her brother Ronnie A. Wilson, who died in combat in Vietnam in 1969.

Sharon is survived by her loving husband, Thom Munson: her son, Mark Plumley; beloved daughter-in-law, Andrea; grandson, Aaron Plumley and his wife Elise; granddaughter, Brooke Hacking her husband, Ben and Tana Ricker and her husband, Cody; stepdaughter, Miranda Munson and her wife, Sara Smith; and stepson, Derek Munson. Less than a month before her death, Sharon welcomed with great joy her first great-grandchild, Riker Cole Hacking into the family fold. Sharon was a wonderful sweet spirit, loved by countless people who were touched by her great humor and endless ability to love.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15 at the Unity Church of Albuquerque in Rio Rancho with the time of service to be determined, to allow the many people who wish to attend to make arrangements.
