Sosimo Padilla Obituary
Padilla, Sosimo

It is with tremendous sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Sosimo Padilla, who passed away on Friday, April 08, 2016 at the age of 86. He was lovingly greeted at the gates of heaven by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Ruth Cordova Padilla, who left us in 2013. Sosimo Padilla is survived by his beloved children, Veronica Padilla Prager and husband, Stuart, Phyllis Padilla Owens and husband, Norman, and John Padilla and wife, SuzAnne. He is also survived by the pride of his life, his grandchildren, Adam Sanchez, Aaron Prager and wife, Elena, Matthew Padilla and wife, Katie, Maria Milder and husband, Robert; his precious great-grandchildren, Shannon, Patricia, and Christopher; and his step-grandchildren, Karli La Cour, and Damion La Cour. Also left to mourn are his beloved sisters, Betty Segura and husband, David, and Martha Avila and husband, Leroy; and his dear and special cousin, Mikey Padilla and wife, Juanita. In addition to his wife Ruth, welcoming him into heaven are his parents, Sosimo Padilla Sr. and Felicita Padilla; step-mother, Antonia Chavez Padilla; his sisters, Anna Rivera, and Sally Sanchez; baby brother, Anthony Padilla; his beloved father and mother-in-law, Arturo and Viviana Cordova; cherished daughter-in-law, Patricia Padilla.

From the age of four, he was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Jose Manuel and Maria Padilla on their farm in Los Chavez and graduated from Belen High School where he met his cherished Ruth.

Sosimo strongly believed in the values of hard work and giving back to the community. He was highly respected, not only within his family, but throughout the community. He was a proud Veteran of the N.M. Army National Guard, was employed by the Albuquerque Publishing Company, served honorably as Chairman of NM Highway Commission, was a member of The Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, was a founding member of the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, a founding member and Chairman of El Valle State Bank, led the effort to obtain steel beams from Ground Zero in NY after 9/11 for the construction of the memorial bell tower at Sacred Heart Church, and served on several boards. His pride and joy though were his children and grandchildren. He was immensely proud that all of them were college graduates. He was a family man who set an example of family values for his children and grandchildren that will never be forgotten.
