Suzanne Eberhart Galligan, 73, died on December 2, 2016, in Scottsboro, AL.

She leaves behind husband Charles Peet; children Mia Maes (Reza Mirmesdagh); Elena Maes, Mark Maes, Ben Peet, Aaron Peet and Shannon Peoples; grandchildren Christian Maes, Cheyenne Brooks, Merritt Blankenau, Kasra Mirmesdagh, Neda Mirmesdagh and Blakelee Mendes.

Suzanne grew up on a ranch in El Porvenir, NM. Her parents, Gerald and Elizabeth Galligan, preceded her in death. Her siblings Patrick Galligan and Elizabeth Galligan survive her. Suzanne attended Dartmouth University and later completed her studies at UNM under the guidance of her mentor, Dr. Ruth Despopolis, with a degree in social work. Throughout her career, she worked at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, UNM Hospital, The Storehouse, and was a founding staff member at St. Martin's. In 2000, she was named NM Humanitarian of the Year for her service to the homeless and mentally ill. After retiring, she and Charles moved to Scottsboro. Suzanne volunteered with Master Gardeners and Meals on Wheels, in NM and AL.

She will be buried near her parents in El Porvenir, summer 2017. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Martin's or Meals on Wheels.
