Virginia K. Neal Obituary
Neal, Virginia K.

Virginia K. Neal, 80, passed away August 9, 2016. She was born Mary Virginia Klinedinst, July 20, 1936 in Lebanon, PA.

Upon graduation from Bloomsburg High School, Bloomsburg, PA in 1954, she graduated from Michigan State University in 1958 with a BA in English and Education and minor in Speech and French. She was a member of Alpha Phi social sorority.

Virginia was an accomplished public speaker, oral interpretor, and amateur actress. She also took post-graduate extension courses in psychology from the Universities of Michigan State, Michigan, Boston, Harvard and Denver.

She taught 10th grade English in Southfield, Michigan for two years. New Mexico became her adopted home in 1973. She then moved from Albuquerque to Sandia Park in 1987. For 26 years she was a substitute teacher for APS. She loved teaching and dealing with adolescents, and believed in them.

Virginia's last thirteen years of teaching were primarily spent at Sandia High School, with requests for long-term assignments at other APS schools. Each day of teaching was a challenge for her that she embraced readily.

She had a wry and lively sense of humor, and loved laughter, but had a deep compassion for those who needed to be heard and listened to without judgment.

She loved animals as wonderful companions and always wanted more.

Virginia considered herself a spiritualist on a perpetual quest for God's truth. She was grateful for all people and friends, and family, who enriched her life, as well as strangers.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Neal and husband, Neal Richardson of Denver, daughter, Ruth Neal of Albuquerque and son, Matthew Neal, wife, Amy and granddaughters, Hannah and Emily of Albuquerque.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Neal Enfield of Santa Fe and her brother, Lt. Col. J. Christopher Klinedinst (USMC Ret.) of Washington State.

We loved her dearly and will miss her greatly!

Cremation has taken place. A social celebration of life will take place on Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 12:00-3:00 pm. For more details, please go to
