Cosner, Col. Wendell (Wendy)

Wendy passed away peacefully at the age of 87 surrounded by his children on Feb. 24, 2017 in his home in Fort Collins, CO.

A 1952 graduate of the Naval Academy, he served in the Air Force with distinction for 28 years. His career began as an Instructor Pilot at Sculthorpe RAFB in England and he ended his service to our country at Kirtland AFB as the Director of the Directorate of Nuclear Safety. Wendell served in the NM Senate from 1985-1988. Free from duties to others, he and his bride, Jane, traveled and golfed to their hearts' content. They could have retired anywhere in the world, but Albuquerque was the only choice for them. They loved the climate and the people.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jane Pole Cosner, three children: Sue Kizer (Rick), Jim Cosner (Denise), Richard Cosner (Marilyn), nine grandchildren: Matt Swanson, Mike Swanson, Andy Swanson, Sam Jones, Kristi Kelly, Ryan Cosner, Coleen Cosner, Tyler Cosner, Megan Cosner and six great-grandchildren.

A family remembrance time was held in Fort Collins.

Contributions made to any organization supporting research to cure Alzheimer's Disease would be appreciated by Wendy. His love for Jane was strong to the end, even though she hadn't been able to interact with him for years.
