Shaw, Wiley S.

Wiley S. Shaw, 68, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from complications from a recent diagnosis of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.

He was born on June 25, 1949 to Burnham and Frances Shaw. He grew up in Omaha, NE then attended Kansas State University where he graduated with a BS in Biology. After college Wiley moved to Albuquerque, NM where he met and married Sharon Nicolet in 1976.

Wiley was a loving husband, father and grandfather and an exceptional friend, boss and mentor to many. He worked in the electrical industry for 43 years, the last 33 being at Summit Electric, first as a salesman then as Service Leader for the Albuquerque Branch. He loved fishing (especially his annual British Columbia salmon trip), feeding the sandhill cranes, hummingbirds and doves, puttering around the house and taking walks. He was a director of the Los Prados de Guadalupe Homeowners Association and volunteered at Anna Kaseman Infusion Center. He was a Chordoma, a rare spine cancer, survivor and became a mentor to others who were afflicted with this disease.

Preceded in death by his brother, David Shaw, and both his parents, he is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon Shaw; daughter, Kimberly Knox and husband, Bo; sister, Joanne Hawkins and husband, Frank; sister in law, Sheree Shaw; brother-in-law, Gary Nicolet and wife, Janine; grandchildren, Dillon and Savannah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
