William Robert Lahvic Sr. Obituary
Lahvic, William Robert Sr.

William R. Lahvic Sr., 91, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend of many was welcomed to heaven on Monday, February 22, 2016.

Bill was a first generation American born in Chicago and spent most of his life in the Chicago area before retiring to Albuquerque in 2004. He was a proud member of the armed services (Army) during World War II. Bill was wounded in Okinawa and was awarded the Purple Heart. He finished his bachelor and master's degrees at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He was a Mason for 50 years. He was known for his passion of wild mushrooms and hunted them extensively every fall.

Bill resided at the Montebello for the past 12 years and leaves behind many dear friends. We want to thank Ambercare and the medical staff at the VA for the excellent care he received.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Joanne, and his daughter Carol.

Bill is survived by his daughter Lee Ann (Jim); son William Jr. (Dyann); grandchildren Bradley (Valentina), Lesley (Ryan), Nicole, Corey (Amy), Alissabyth, Alexis, Jennifer (Chris) and Travis. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. He will be missed.

A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 at 10 am at St. Chad's Episcopal Church, 7171 Tennyson St. NE 87122. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Chad's Episcopal in memory of Bill Lahvic.
