William W. Britton Obituary
Britton, William W.

On March 25, 2016 a kind and wonderful man passed away. He had moral worth and was a patient and loving soul. William served as a University administrator for over 40 years at various institutions including UNM, where he functioned as Associate Vice-President of Finance. Besides being a successful manager and accountant, he was a masterful artist and craftsman.

As a young man he was an accomplished athlete. Later, he was a rodeo coach at ENMU and led his team to a national championship. He was as tender as he was tough, founding an animal humane society in Oklahoma, literally embracing an endless stream of homeless pets.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cherie; his brothers Otha, Ron and Phil; as well as his children Forrest and Suzie; and stepchildren, Rachel and Travis. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A celebration of his life will be held on April 8th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Church, 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your preferred charity.
