Keith Lyle Knighten, 89, of Seward, Alaska, passed away on Aug. 22, 2018, in Seward.
He was born to Archie and Neva Knighten on June 11, 1929, in Halsey, Ore. Keith joined the Navy at 15, and went on to retire from the Coast Guard, a veteran of three wars. He married Dorthy A. Patapoff on April 11, 1948. They settled in Seward in 1965, and traveled the world while raising two sons. After retiring as Chief Warrant Officer in 1967, he built the Fish House, and then onto Harbor Air Service.
Keith is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Thema L. Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Dorthy A. Knighten of Seward; and sons, Kimo and Theda Knighten of Lebanon, Ore., and Gilbert and Carol Knighten of Seward. Known to many as grandpa, and lovingly as grumpy by others, Keith will be greatly missed.

Keith worked with me on the Alaska Peninsula in the 1970's and was a great coworker and a super nice man. I'll treasure my memories of him. Please accept my condolences and I'm sure other long gone officers of Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game.
