Catherine Wyrick(1932 - 2018)

Mrs. Catherine Jean Wyrick, born on Nov. 29, 1932, took her first heavenly breath on Sept. 2, 2018, peacefully with her family at home in Anchorage, Alaska.
A service will be held on Sept. 8, 2018, at Holy Cross Parish, 2627 Lore Road in Anchorage, at 1:00 p.m. with her burial taking place in Kent, Wash. at Mt. Tahoma National Cemetery the following weekend, where she will be joined with her late husband, Walter Pyott Wyrick and her first son, James Dean Wyrick.
Catherine was born on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 1932, in the sleepy little town of Old Mines, Mo., to her mother, Rose; and father, Sylas Osia; welcomed as well by her brothers, Raymond, John and Glenn Osia; and sisters, Evelyne, Dorothy and Virginia Osia. Catherine was the baby girl.
Catherine and her family became residents of Alaska on June 10, 1970, and began to discover what life was all about. Throughout her professional career, Catherine achieved a master's degree in medical administration as well as military vocational educations. Catherine was chief of records at Elmendorf Air Force Base Hospital from 1972-1980.
Upon Walters retirement they moved to Washington State where Catherine furthered her career and education as Army logistic deployment specialist (1982-1984), NORAD Classified (1984-1986) and chief of services at the American Lake Veterans Hospital (1987-1991).
In Catherine's retirement, she enjoyed most of all her family and her husband. She was well-read, an artist, and a sucker for old westerns. Catherine was a gentle giant, blessed with courage, integrity, compassion as well as an unparalleled will of survival. Open heart surgery as a teen, stroke as an adult, she was a gift that kept on giving.
For her sacrifices, our family, with undying love in our hearts, owe her everything and will continue to repay our debt through love and kindness to others, in memory of her teachings, the most beautiful woman who ever lived.
Catherine will be forever missed by those of us who still carry her smile, son and daughter, Mark and Karen Wyrick and their family; grandchildren, Dawn and Tony Reishus, Haley, Andrew and Ryan; as well as great-grandchildren, Audun and June; son, Jonathan Wyrick and his family; grandchild, Michael; great grandchildren, Walter, Harry and Rae; son, Dane Wyrick (Susan Faust) and his family, Jasmine and Steve Wyrick Smith, Melissa Wyrick Bolieu; sister, Evelyn Malone of California and her family, John and Todd Jr.
Beyond her immediate family, Catherine's extended family is far reaching. The family asks that donations be made in Lieu of Flowers to Disabled Veterans of America Foundation or in Catherine J Wyrick's name.
Be kind to one another and kindness will fall upon you.
