Our Beautiful Alice Evridge, 64 passed away, Saturday, July 5, 2014 at her home in Anchorage. A memorial in honor of Alice will be held at Beluga Point in Anchorage, AK at 8pm, Friday, July 11, 2014, all friends and family are welcome. A future memorial will also be held in Charleston, SC. She was born Alice Porcher Palmer in Charleston, SC, on March 3, 1950 to an adoring father, Dr. George Edward Palmer and beloved mother, Elizabeth L. McSweeney who later married Alice's stepfather, Arthur Grimm. She has two sisters, Mary Palmer and Elizabeth A. Henry. Alice was an astute student at Allendale-Fairfax High School where she also won numerous beauty pageants as well as Homecoming Queen. She then went on to earn a B.A. in Drama on an accelerated course from Columbia College as well as a Masters in Business from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. While married to John E. Kirkland of Allendale, they had two children, Porcher Palmer Kirkland (now Porcher K. Scott) and John Erwin Kirkland. Alice was also blessed with a beautiful and precious granddaughter, Elizabeth Porcher Scott by her daughter Porcher Kirkland Scott and her son in law Michael Scott. As an entrepreneur, Alice and her husband, Jim Evridge, established a business enterprise Jim's Equipment Repair in Anchorage, Alaska, where they also resided along with their rescued Great Danes and their Siamese Kitty. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any Great Danes Rescue Foundation of your choice. Arrangements were cared for by the Anchorage Funeral Home & Crematory.
