Aniak resident Carl N. Morgan Sr. died peacefully in his home on Dec. 23, 2006, in the presence of his family.
A funeral was Dec. 26, 2006, at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Aniak. Burial was at his Native allotment in Aniak.
Carl was born Oct. 18, 1925, to George Morgan Sr. and Mary Josephine Peterson in Ohogamiut. He lived in Kalskag and then moved to Aniak a few years after marrying Nancy C. Passamika in 1947. Carl loved and lived the Native way all his life and cared for the local people of the middle Kuskokwim area.
Carl served in the Army National Guard. After that he worked for Northern Consolidated Airlines/Wein Air.
Family wrote: "Carl was a very active man. He and Nancy loved to travel by snowmachine and boat to get their subsistence foods. Carl will be missed very much by all his family and friends. He touched so many lives with his care and kindness."
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy C. Morgan; their children, Leo Morgan, Carl Morgan Jr., Leonard Morgan Sr., James Morgan, William Morgan, Walter Morgan Sr., Nick Nicoli, Francine Morgan, Harry Morgan Sr., Barbara Morgan, Wayne Morgan and Bruce Morgan; brother, William Morgan; his sisters, Theresa Parent and Maggie Nicholai; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren of whom he was very proud; and many nieces and nephews.
