Chester Franz Obituary

Chester B. Franz, died December 2, 2013 at home. He was 83.

He was born November 30, 1930 in St. Louis, MO. He served in the Marine Corps and has resided in Anchorage, Alaska since January 1975. Chester was a self-employed Computer Programmer. He attended Grandview Baptist Church and taught Sunday school.

Chester's hobbies included: ham radio operator, sailing, hunting, fishing, stamp collecting, traveling, back packing, faceting & jewelry making, running/racing and coaching. He also was an avid reader and a Christian bible scholar. He patiently and lovingly cared for his wife Margaret for the last 27 years.

Chester is survived by his wife Margaret; his brother Don; ten children; twenty-two grand children; and twelve great grand children.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 11th. 2013 at Grandview Baptist Church, located at 1300 Columbine St.

Dear Peggy and family, I am sorry for your loss and you are in my prayers. I will miss a dear friend and mentor. He encouraged and inspired me to run. I have great memories of the many races we ran in Alaska.
