David R. Scott was born in Seldovia, Alaska, and raised in Homer, Alaska, by his parents, James and Elva Scott. Dave passed away on March 8, 2018, in Juneau, Alaska.
Dave lived an active outdoor-oriented life. He climbed several prominent Alaska mountains and kayaked/canoed on many of Alaska's rivers. In the 1970s, Dave pioneered fixed-wing, and then helicopter skiing out of Girdwood, Alaska. He loved showing clients untracked world-class alpine ski runs. Dave spent his summer months in the '70s guiding Alaska visitors through its many beautiful locations. Dave later worked for Arco, and then British Petroleum. He enjoyed traveling, scuba diving and underwater photography.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elva Scott; sister, Peggy Bittlingmaier; and older brother, Patrick Scott. He is survived by his daughter, Katelyn Scott; and brother, Tom Scott.
