Don L. Anderson, 60, of Wasilla, died at his residence March 28, 2009.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born Dec. 8, 1948, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, to Donald J. and Myra Joy (LeFevre) Anderson.
When Don graduated from Anchorage High School in 1967, he elected to join the Navy. He was very proud of the fact that he served on both the USS Wasp and the USS Intrepid during the Vietnam War. After his years in the Navy, Don worked as a journeyman electrician in the mines of Utah and Alaska. In early 2000, he returned to Alaska. After arriving here, Don felt as though he had found his true home. He was an avid angler and loved the outdoors.
Don L. Anderson is survived by his children, Tamara, Don and Ben, all of Washington, Dixie of Las Vegas, and Savannah of Vermont; brothers, Myron Anderson of the Philippines, Charles "Spike" Anderson of Washington, Kevin Anderson of Grand Junction, Colo., and Tracy Anderson of Seward; sister, Maureen Anderson, of Hurricane, Utah; as well as numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Juana Velarde; and his father, Donald J. Anderson.
Arrangements are with Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.
