Longtime Alaska resident and Slope worker Edward R. Ketterer III, also known to friends as "Luigi," lost his battle with cancer and died Jan. 5, 2010, at Mat-Su Regional Hospital.

As he requested, there will be no service.

He was born Oct. 30, 1951, in Reading, Pa.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mae of Wasilla; parents, Bob and Fran Ketterer of Anchorage; son, Israel Logan and wife Mihaela; grandchildren, Bianca and Eli; sister, Melanie Curley; niece, Magan Morgan; nephew, Christofer Schwandt; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
