Frank Amodemo Sr. passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, on March 11, 2017, his 79th birthday. He was born in New York, N.Y., on March 11, 1938, to Joseph and Mamie Amodemo. He graduated from St. Michael's College in Vermont in 1962. Frank married Jessica Amodemo (Glasgow) in 1965, and they had four children. They lived on Long Island until 1981, when Frank moved his family to Anchorage to start a job as a project manager with the State of Alaska, Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. He loved Alaska's beauty and cooler temperatures. After retiring in 1996, he helped design his perfect home and it was custom built in Anchorage. Twenty happy years would fly by and each year the family gatherings and holiday celebrations they loved to host grew larger and larger with the arrival of more grandchildren. Frank enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren; he continuously told them the importance of education and having the desire, dedication and discipline needed to achieve their goals. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. He always had a smile to give, a positive outlook and genuine concern for others. Frank and his children were grateful and thankful for the wonderful team of caregivers from Preferred Care at Home Alaska, his live-in caregiver, Damon, and Providence Home Health Care; all whom provided his daily care, allowing him to remain comfortably in his home after his wife passed away in 2014. Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jessica; daughter, Jennifer; and brother, Joseph Amodemo. He is survived by son, Frank Amodemo Jr.; wife Leanne; daughter, Sarah Powell; daughter, Tanya French and husband Scott; and grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda, Mackenzie, Joseph, Andrew, Bryce, Aaron, Duane and Brandon; and great-grandson, Jayden. He is also survived by his brother, Tim Amodemo of New York; and many more relatives and friends. Arrangements were made by Legacy Funeral Homes. Frank's ashes will be scattered in New York at a later date. At his request, no local services are planned. Any donations in Frank's memory may be made to: Saint Michael's College, 1 Winooski Park, Box 256 Colchester, VT 05439-1000.
