Grant was born on Aug. 29, 1964, in Brownwood, Texas, and moved to Anchorage in 1969, when he was 4 1/2 years old.
He graduated from East High School in 1983, and attended three years of college. Grant enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing and spending time with his wife and golden retrievers.
He worked at several jobs over the years, ending with the most recent being United Parcel Service for 11 years. His plans were to obtain a license to sell insurance and work for New York Life Insurance Company.
Grant took his time finding the right person, but finally he met a young lady named Marcela and they were married in 2009. They were blessed with eight happy years together.
He was loved for his honesty, integrity and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Marcela; parents, Buddy and Jolene Orand; aunts; uncles; and seven cousins who loved him dearly, Gary Anderson, Craig Anderson and Bruce Anderson all of San Antonio, Texas, Lyndall Gathright of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Le Ron Gathright, Donna Malone and Kristi Schmidt, all of Abilene, Texas.
Two weeks before he disappeared he experienced a new birth in Christ when he received forgiveness of sin and invited Jesus into his life.
Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
