Hoxie Andre' Nelson, 45, died Nov. 7, 2007, in Anchorage.
Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. Friday at Witzleben Family Funeral Home, 1707 S. Bragaw St. Burial will be afterward at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 27, 1962, on Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Ala. Hoxie was the seventh child born to Glynn and Emma Jean Nelson.
Hoxie attended elementary school at the Jurupa School District in Rubidoux, Calif. He later moved to Anchorage and attended junior and senior high school, graduating from Service High School.
After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country for three years. During this period, he served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Upon completion of service, Hoxie returned to Anchorage and made it his home.
Hoxie is survived by his father and stepmother, Glynn and Deborah Nelson of Oxford, Ga.; mother, Emma Jean Nelson of Chicago; daughter, Tenitha M. Nelson of Fredericksburg, Va.; sons, Braden Holt and Hoxie Nelson; sisters, N. Renee Thomas of Elberton, Ga., Selena Nelson of Orlando, Fla., Jeanne Nelson of Anchorage, and Angela "Rat" Crawford of Oxford; brothers, Michael K. Nelson, Glynn Nelson and his children, Jeremiah Nelson and Harmonie Danielle Holt, all of Anchorage, and William Nelson of Laredo, Texas. He also leaves one stepsister, three stepbrothers, and a host of nieces, grandnieces, nephews and grandnephews.
