Isaac "Ike" M. Waldrop, Jr., age 76, former longtime resident of Anchorage, died Aug. 1, 2009, at his residence in Tyler, Texas. He was born July 11, 1933, to the late Isaac Merit and Emma Gertrude Martin Waldrop. Ike was business manager for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 1547, in Anchorage, the Alaska Chapter manager of National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and chairman of Alaska Electrical Pension and Trust. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a family man, always putting family first. He was a proud father and grandfather. He always laughed at his own jokes. He loved his family, golf, hockey, fishing and playing the guitar in his band. He is survived by his wife, Kitty; children, Merit Waldrop III and wife Tina, Jeff Waldrop and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Merit Waldrop IV and wife Sarah, JJ Waldrop and Wyatt Waldrop; great-grandchildren, Merit Waldrop V and Emma Waldrop; brothers and sisters, Harold Waldrop, Melvin Waldrop, Mary Alice White and Emma Jean Griffith; and Margie Waldrop. He was buried at the National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
