Anchorage resident Jacqueline Ann "Jackie" Johnston-Hogg, 45, died peacefully in her sleep Jan. 27, 2007, at Providence Alaska Medical Center following a short illness. Her family was with her throughout her brief period of hospitalization.
In accordance with Jackie's wishes, private memorial services will be held at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel.
Jackie was born June 21, 1961, at Bentwaters Air Force Base, Rendlesham, England. She became an Alaska resident in 1964 at age 3 after her father's discharge from the U.S. Air Force, and resided in Anchorage the rest of her life. Jackie attended Bartlett High School, after which she served in the Alaska Army National Guard. She later attended Charter College, where she attained an Associate of Arts degree and graduated with honors. Jackie was married to Trevor Hogg and had one daughter, Phylisa Johnston-Hogg, age 10.
Her family wrote: "Jackie was a beautiful, intelligent, loving person, who was young at heart and could find humor in almost any situation. Her ability to lighten tension or even daunting circumstances with a clever joke delighted her family and friends. Jackie enjoyed reading and craftwork. She used her artistic talent to make gifts for her family members, such as pictures and jewelry. Jackie treasured her daughter and spent many happy hours with Phylisa reading stories, painting with water colors and drawing. Her loyalty to and love for her mother will never be forgotten. Jackie was loved very, very much by everyone who knew her and we will miss her always."
In addition to her husband and daughter, Jackie is survived by her stepson, Trevor Hogg Jr.; father, Paul Johnston; mother, Phyllis Johnston; sister, Wendy Johnston; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Cathie Johnston; nephew, Michael Johnston; sister and brother-in-law, Buffie and Tom Cubit; nephew, Asher Cubit; paternal grandfather and stepgrandmother, Lyle and Mae Johnston; father and mother-in-law, Sam and Theresa Hogg; brother- and sisters-in-law; aunts, uncles, cousins, and other loved ones including Jeanne McIntosh and Kathy Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Louise Johnston; and maternal grandparents, Palmer and Anna Petersen.
In lieu of flowers, Jackie's family wishes to establish an education fund on behalf of her daughter, Phylisa. Memorial contributions may be made in care of Phyllis Johnston, 11221 Latta Circle, Anchorage 99516.
