James "Jim" Parker passed from this life to spend eternity with his savior Jesus Christ on March 12, 2016. On Nov. 14, 1960, he was born in Niles, Mich., to Bob and Margaret Parker. Jim was 13 when the family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, in 1974, and he graduated from Service High School in 1979. On Oct. 28, 1999, Jim married Sherry Smith, who survives. Other family members include his mother, Margaret Parker; brothers, Mike Parker and Scott (Tammy) Parker; nephew, Colton Parker; nieces, Rachel (Ben) Maxwell, Kristi (Jeremy) Bloomstrom and Miah Bloomstrom; stepson, Fred Smith; and grandson, Dayton Smith. Jim was greeted in heaven by his father, Bob, who passed in 2011. Jim's greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Dayton. He also enjoyed NASCAR, gold prospecting, hunting and snowmachining. Jim had been employed for many years by the McKenna brothers, whom he considered his second family. A celebration of life will be held on April 15, 2016, at 6 p.m. at McKenna Bros. Paving, 6129 Petersburg St. in Anchorage.
