Karen S. Szafraniec, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away, at home, on March 5, 2018, of cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on March 10, 2018, at the Farmloop Christian Center, 5900 North Farmloop in Palmer, Alaska.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the cancer research fund, to help in the cure of cancer.
Karen was born in Johnstown, Pa. She attended high school at Chartiers-Houston High School and graduated in 1968. She married her husband on May 24, 1969, and they had three children: two daughters, Holly and Michelle, and one son, Terrance Jr. She later attended Daytona Beach, Fla., community college and graduated as a licensed practical nurse. She nursed in Florida and Alaska, and was a very compassionate and caring nurse, who really enjoyed it. She was forced to retire, after suffering an injury from one of her patients. She was very disappointed, since she really loved her job as a nurse, and would have nursed as a volunteer after retirement.
She loved fishing, camping and sight-seeing, making jewelry and crocheting, as well as traveling.
She is survived by her husband, Terrance Sr.; son, Terrance Jr.; daughters, Holly and Michelle; as well as her two grandsons, Terrance III and Joshua.
Some of her ashes will be spread in Denali National Park, as she truly loved going there, and the rest retained to be scattered in Florida, with her husband, when he passes. She was very loved by her family and will be truly missed by them, as well as her church family.
