Kenneth "Ken" S. Gage, 75, of Aurora, Colo., formerly of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2018, at his home in the arms of his loving wife of 56 years, MaryAnn.
He was the proud father of Debbie Dalton of San Angelo, Texas, Ken (Darcy) Gage of Aurora, Colo., and Tammy (Craig) Meade of Aurora, Colo.; papa of Samantha, Michael, Ashley, Cory and Savannah; and brother of Karen (Bill) Mueller of Downers Grove, Ill. Ken is also survived by his very best friend, Jim Spartz of Anchorage, Alaska.
At the age of 21, Ken started his own wall covering business: K&K Decorating. Four years later, with his wife and at the time two kids, they took the leap and left Illinois to start a new life in Alaska. That proved to become his real home. Ken worked on the beginning of the Alaska Pipeline for approximately four years. Completing their family, they welcomed their youngest child during that time.
K&K Decorating continued to flourish for 41 years. Ken loved the Alaska life of fishing, hunting, clam digging and, of course, making friends wherever he went. He will be remembered for his hard work, his smile, his laugh and his love of family.
No services will be held per Ken's request. Ken's friend, Jim Spartz, will be taking a portion of Ken's ashes to all his favorite places in Alaska.
