Kim Marie (Sarvey) Knudsen, 53, of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away peacefully at her home on Christmas Day, after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia. Kim was born in Johnson City, N.Y., on Nov. 5, 1962. She attended high school in Endicott, N.Y., and later graduated from Charter College in Anchorage with an associate's degree in business management and computer science. Kim was employed at the University of Alaska Anchorage as a contracting officer for facilities, planning and construction. Her previous employers were Cook Inlet Housing Authority and Charter College. Kim made many special friends during her years of employment who supported her through her illness. Kim loved reading, gardening, camping, attending blues festivals and concerts by her favorite artists. Kim will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, great sense of humor and love of family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for each one of her dogs. She was a loving wife, a wonderful daughter, and a very caring, giving and supportive sister and friend to many. Kim will forever be in our hearts. Kim is survived by her husband, Louis (Mitch) Knudsen; her mother, Cindy Baisley; fiancée, Byron Rosengrant; her father, Earl Sarvey and wife, Mary Lou; sister, Tina Tusar; half-brother, Shaun Sarvey and wife, Mari; Demian Sarvey and wife, Andria; stepsister, Kimberly Larsen; sister-in-law, Tiare Kaufman and husband, Douglas. She is further survived by special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Kim is preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Sarvey; her maternal grandparents, Donald Letson and Evelyn Paratore; paternal grandparents, Floyd and Verna Sarvey; and stepfather, Ken Baisley. A gathering will be held on Jan. 2, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow from 2 - 3 p.m. at Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E St. Anchorage, Alaska 99501. A reception will follow at 3 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in Kim's name to Covenant House, 755 A Street, Anchorage, Alaska 99501, Alaska SPCA, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
