Long time Alaskan Margaret Gamble Denler passed peacefully in Bend, Ore., on Feb. 16, 2018. She was 85 years old. Margaret was born on Nov. 4, 1932, in Canby, Minn, to Marcus and Olga Anderson. As a child, Margaret developed a love for music which continued throughout her life.
Margaret married Earl Gamble in 1952, and the young couple soon moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where they raised their family of four children.
Margaret was well regarded in the local legal community, where she worked for many years as a legal secretary and paralegal. She was very active in her community and church, Lutheran Church of Hope. Margaret tragically lost her husband, Earl, in 1968, but was comforted by the love and support of her family and many friends. Years later, she and daughter, Connie, moved to San Diego, Calif., where she met and married Warren Denler. Margaret and Warren continued to spend summers in Alaska until moving permanently to their idyllic home on Wolf Lake near Palmer, Alaska, where she loved hosting family and guests. She was very active in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and in her church. Margaret enjoyed getting out and exploring Alaska and traveling the country in their RV. They remained at Wolf Lake until moving to Bend in November 2014. Margaret was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family and always made sure they stayed connected to each other.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Olga Anderson; sister, Betty; and loving husband, Earl.
She is survived by her husband, Warren Denler; children, Steven Gamble and his wife Nancie of Tucson, Ariz., Bradley Gamble and his wife, Tonya of Eagle River, Alaska, Robert Gamble and his wife, Kathy of Ferndale, Wash., and Constance Gamble Baty and her son, Aaron of Bend, Ore.: and niece, BJ Huebner of Ramsey, Minn. She leaves behind 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who all lit up her life!
Margaret blessed us all with her love, wisdom and humor even during her most challenging times and we will miss her deeply; may she rest in peace.
A memorial service will be held in the summer at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wasilla, Alaska. Donations may be made in her memory to Habitat for Humanity or to MY House in Wasilla.
