Marie F. Trefry passed away suddenly after a lengthy illness on March 24, 2016, in Tacoma, Wash. She was born on Oct. 8, 1964, to then Katherine "Katy" and Francis Michael Trefry. Growing up, Marie was raised in Nondalton, Kenai and Anchorage, Alaska. She is a graduate of Kenai Central High School. Marie was a member of the Russian Orthodox Church and stayed close to her faith. Marie's natural charm, gregariousness and good nature allowed her to be a success in her chosen occupation, the hospitality industry, working in Anchorage, Juneau and later in the casino/Gaming Industry. She will be missed by her many co-workers and patrons of the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma. Marie enjoyed the arts, especially music and dance, and enjoyed socializing and entertaining friends and family. She loved being outdoors, especially on the water fishing. Marie was well traveled - spreading her sunshine and and contagious laughter where ever she went. Marie was a beautiful woman who lit up a room when she walked in. She was a great conversationalist and had an uncanny ability to connect with every one she met. She always saw the best side of everyone and always made a friend of whoever she met. Marie touched many lives and we are grateful for every moment we had with her. Marie is survived by her love and companion of 17 years, Dan Bowlin of Tacoma, Wash.; oldest brother, Howard Trefon of Knik, Alaska; younger brother, Mike Trefry of Wasilla, Alaska; younger sister, Bev Wilson of Stanwood, Wash.; younger brother, Rhody Launders of Anchorage; brother-in-law, Curt Wilson of Stanwood, Wash.; honorary older brother, Chuck N. Trefon of Nondalton, Alaska; nephews, Trevor Wilson, Howie Wilson and Nicholas Launders; and nieces, Kazara Wilson, Savannah Wilson and Tia Launders. Marie is also survived by countless members of our Beautiful extended family in and from Nondalton, Alaska. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff from the Saint Joseph Medical Center Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit. Thank you for your valiant efforts, you are God's hands. May God bless you all. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Celebrations of Marie's life will be held in Tacoma, Wash.; by her Juneau, Alaska, circle of friends; and, at a later date this summer, family and friends will gather in Anchorage, Alaska, to celebrate her life and spread her ashes.
