I am sorry to say that I never met Martina.I am very familar with her dolls that depict the traditional Yup'ik activities of work and play that she is famous for. In my work as an appraiser I have seen her dolls in many private collections and just this summer I spent many, many hours at the Yupiit Piciryarait in Bethel where they have the largest collection of her dolls that I have ever seen. I am sorry for your loss but I hope that you take comfort in knowing that she has left behind a part of herself as depicted in her dolls that will be enjoyed for generations to come. Whenever I see one of her dolls which are so recognizable it is like seeing an old friend.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. A mother's love is irreplaceable. May her triumphs and joys console you in your time of grief. A mere memory is the most beautiful gift someone can give another. You are never far from my thoughts and forever in my heart...

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember seeing Martina always with a smile and loved to tease me and Lora. I enjoyed being in her presence, always smiling, giggling and joking with us. My prayers are with You all, especially Sophie and Lora. She holds a special place in my heart. She was like another grandmother to me, being so close to Lora and seeing her often as a child. God be with all her family.
