Michael S. Turner, age 67, died peacefully at home in Palmer, Alaska, on June 1, 2016, surrounded by the love of his family. A second generation Alaskan, Mike was born on June 15, 1948, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Bob and Joy Turner. After graduating from West Anchorage High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Patsy Williams. With Patsy, Mike moved to Palmer, Alaska, in 1975, where they built their home together while raising two children, Jenny and Jeff. Mike had a long career as a carpenter and construction superintendent that took him on jobs all over Alaska. He always made great adventures in the Alaska outdoors with his family and friends a priority. Frequently just called "Turner," he enjoyed organizing trips and activities from hunting to fishing trips to the Deskha and Ninilchik, float trips to the Yukon, many boating trips and working with youth soccer while Jeff was young. When he wasn't organizing trips, he was organizing projects with friends and family. He particularly loved the Bob and Harriet Williams family cabin on Kenai Lake and spent many years working on it with them to help make it a special gathering place. In addition to being a great ringleader, Mike had a special way of caring for others who needed it, encouraging those he met and taking time to play with kids and animals. He was witty, kind, dearly loved and will be missed by the many whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Turner; father, Robert J. Turner; and brother, Murphy Turner. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patsy Turner; daughter, Jennifer Turner Meiwes; son, Jeffrey Turner and his wife Racheal and stepdaughter Kerstie; sister, Vicki Turner Malone; his much loved grandson, Luke Meiwes; and many nieces and nephews. A service will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at 3 p.m. at the Church on the Rock: 3571 West Machen Road, Wasilla, AK 99687. Arrangements are with Janssen's Mat-Su Funeral Home.
