Patricia K. Greene, 85, passed away in Okanogan County, Wash., on March 29, 2017, surrounded by family following a brief illness. Patricia was born on April 1, 1931, in Bessemer, Mich., where she married the love of her life, Guy H. Greene Jr., on her parent's farm. They had four daughters, and soon after the last child was born, they moved as a family to Juneau, Alaska, then to Anchorage, Alaska, and finally after retirement, they settled in Palmer, Alaska. After Patricia's husband passed away in 2010, she moved to be with her youngest daughter's family in Okanogan, Wash.
Patricia enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, journaling, birds and, most of all, spending time with family. She passed along her knowledge to her daughters, grandchildren and even to her great-grandchildren. Patricia enjoyed an adventure; she followed her husband's dream of sailing. They owned the "Kaisa," a 38-foot sailboat and sailed from Washington state to Juneau, Alaska, on into Seward, Alaska. Patricia loved traveling. She traveled to many states in the United States, and Canada, as well as accompanied her oldest daughter to New Zealand. Kona, Hawaii, was a favorite place of travel.
Patricia was preceded in death by her mother and father, Huldah and Walter Kuusisto; her younger brother, William "Billy" Kuusisto; brother, Paul Kuusisto; and her great-grandchild, Alayna Alvarez.
She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth "Liisa" Kuusisto; her daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Eric Pyne, Joanna and her husband, Rick Harding, Kristine Greene and Janet and her husband, Douglas Burts; her grandchildren, Spencer and his wife, Kristin Alvarez, Kodi Erickson-Greene, Aubrey and her husband, Dominic Mahutu-Mason, Evva Burts and Ian Burts; and her great-grandchildren, Kaden Lancaster-Greene, Jaeson Alvarez and Konner Alvarez.
A celebration of life/memorial will be held during the summer. An announcement will be made closer to the date by Precht, Harrison & Nearents Chapel in Okanogan, Wash.
