Patrick was born in Anchorage, Alaska on July 15, 1978. He attended Ravenwood Elementary; Gruening Jr. High; Chugiak High School and the University of Alaska Anchorage. He was raised and lived in the Eagle River valley until graduating High School. He was very involved with his school, football, hockey, cheerleader, choir, "Captain C" spirit leader.

Recently he worked for Little Red Services in Alaska. Prior to that; he trained retrievers for field trial competition from Maine to Washington and Texas to Alaska.

Patrick donated many hours to political campaigns and was a frequent blood and platelet donor. (Gallons!) He loved dogs (his and almost everyone else's). He enjoyed assisting with and observing his nephew's sports activities. He is a fan of the Seattle Mariners and the Seahawks. He loved riding his bicycles, anytime, any season, over snow, on the beach and over every trail in Anchorage.

His family wrote, "Patrick was known for his loving spirit and zest for life. He loved and respected all his friends and family members. Although frugal, he was extremely generous and caring to those he loved. His quick wit, easy smile and wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed."

Survivors include his parents Pat and Naomi Leonard of Eagle River; brother and sister-in-law Steve and Cathy Leonard of Anchorage; brother John Leonard; Labrador companion of 16 years Louie; nephews Christian Leonard, Sterling Crossman and Bryce Erickson all of Anchorage; several aunts and uncles; and "brothers" at Little Red's.
