Robbie Lee West Sr. was born on Oct. 2, 1956, to Billy and Leila West in Anchorage, Alaska. Rob passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2016, with his wife and four boys by his side. After spending his early life in Alaska, Rob, along with his parents and siblings, moved to Florida, in 1968, to be around his grandparents. Rob graduated from Poplar Springs High School in Graceville, Fla., in 1974. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Denise, they made the trek back to Alaska, where they raised their four boys. Over the years, he lived briefly in Oregon, California, Iowa and Tennessee, all places where he met life long friends in the truth. Rob worked for Northwest Airlines before taking an early retirement in order to pursue more fully the full time pioneer work with his wife. Rob loved the outdoors, such as camping, fishing and he really loved basketball. These activities became something that bonded him and his family, and now have become wonderful memories to cherish. And although Rob loved these activities, what he loved most in life was serving his God, Jehovah. He loved Jehovah with all of his heart. And by his example, he taught his family what it means to serve him whole souled and from the heart. He counted it a privilege to serve Jehovah and his brothers and sisters in any way he could. Rob treasured any theocratic privilege he received. Denise would often wake up in the middle of the night to find Rob working away at his desk on something for the congregation, an assembly or convention, pioneer school, or just researching a bible question that he had. Rob is survived by his loving wife, Denise; and by his children Robbie and Leah, Jason, Jeremy and Renee and Dylan and Cierra West; he had four beautiful grandchildren, Shauna, Caden, Trey and Raegan West; he is also survived by his siblings, Roy and Teresa West, Rich and Joy West and Lacinda and Tom Cornell; all of his nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Included in this are his many dearly loved in-laws and extended family from Florida and the surrounding areas. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 12 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2552 East 48th Avenue in Anchorage.
