Russell Owen Miller, 33, passed away on March 18, 2015, in Anchorage, Alaska. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2015, at the Hotel Captain Cook, in the Ballroom. All are invited. Russell was born on June 19, 1981, in Anchorage, Alaska. He attended Dimond High School as well as San Francisco State University. He was employed by Roger Hickel Contracting. Russ' philosophy is "The cup of life is always full." He had eternal optimism, a contagious smile and infectious spirit. He was larger than life; an all-Alaska kind of guy. He put his family first and always took care of himself. He had the prettiest wife, the most amazing baby girl and the coolest hotrod. Russ lived his way, playing with snowmachines and mud-boggers and going mountain biking with fishing rods. He always had the tools to do the job and would help anyone with anything. He was the man that did it right the first time, every time. He took nothing for granted and never dropped the ball. Russ made good choices and challenged you to do the same. He made us better people. He made you smile even when you thought you couldn't and continues to make us smile. Capable, caring, and charismatic - impish, to say the least. You knew you were his friend, and that made you important. He was the best role model to everyone. He was a little silly, the best kind of crazy and always positive. Whatever he did, he did it wholeheartedly. It is unfair to say goodbye to a man who made this world a better place. The pure joy, energy and spirit Russ possessed will be everlasting. We miss him dearly and are truly blessed to be a part of his world. Thank you, Russ, for teaching us what life is really about! We love you Russell. As Russ would say, "Now go climb that mountain." In lieu of flowers, Russ' family requests any gifts to help support Ridgely M. Miller, his 7-month-old daughter, be sent to the "Donation Account for Russell Miller," in the name of Kolby Miller Wells Fargo Account 6494276204. Russell is survived by his wife, Kolby Hickel Miller; daughter, Ridgely May Miller; mother and father, Christy and Doyle Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Abby Miller and Shane Langley; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lynn and Wally Hickel Jr.; sister-in-law, Morgan Hickel; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Candace and Wally Hickel III. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
