Teuaililo "Teu" Gertrude Fautanu Nua, age 38, passed away suddenly due to a tragic accident on Feb. 15, 2017, in Anchorage, Alaska. Teu was born on Oct. 13, 1978, in American Samoa; she attended Iakina S.D.A Elementary and Tafuna High School. She graduated with an associate degree in criminal justice from Remington College in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she lived for eight years before moving to Anchorage in 2005 to live near her family.
Teu is beloved and survived by her husband of 20 years, Toatolualoalii "Tre" Nua; daughters, Zjahnette "JahJah" and Zariahlyn Nua; father, Fiafia Fautanu; mother and stepfather, Rina and Fataloa Papalii; siblings, Ruth Fautanu, Mitiana (Gary) Schuster, Faatoaga Fam (Meigan) Fautanu, Ramsey Makisi and Sala Fautanu; and uncles and aunts, Pastor Tusa and Sele Tanuvasa along with Pastor Frank and Judy Tanuvasa and Mac and Joyce Makisi. She is also survived by countless loving in-laws, cousins, nephews and nieces, and adored by all her friends, staff members and residents from work.
Teu worked as a case manager for GEO Group Inc at the Cordova Center transitional facility. Her sister, Mitiana, wrote: "Teu was kind, trustworthy, smart, funny, fiercely loyal very nurturing and a caring loving person with a great sense of humor. Teu is known for the deep love she holds for her husband, Tre, and her two most precious daughters: Jahjah and Zariah. Her love of family, love of friends and love of life itself was apparent to all who knew her. She's missed terribly by everyone, but her laughter and smile will remain cemented in our hearts and memories."
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at First Assembly of God's Church, 1540 C Street in Anchorage, beginning at 10 a.m. Teu's uncles, Pastor Tusa Tanuvasa and Pastor Frank Tanuvasa will be officiating the service. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
