Todd Jones, a Beloved Son, Husband, Father and Friend.
After graciously offering to remove a large accumulation of snow from an elderly neighbor's drive, Todd Richard Jones collapsed suffering a cardiac arrest. He passed away on Feb. 27, 2018, in Anchorage, Alaska, in great anticipation of finally meeting his lord and savior Jesus Christ. Todd is survived by his wife, Christal Marquiss-Jones; and two daughters, Jenay and Jolina; his parents, Donna and Alan Jones Sr.; his brothers, Brian and Alan Jones Jr.; aunt, Gwen Bauer; and uncle, Frank Fornari; aunt, Cathy Bauer; sister-in-law, Dawn Jones; nephews, Brandon, Tyler and Shane Jones; niece, Katelyn Jones; sister-in-law, Colleen Jones; nieces, Simone and Kayla Jones; mother- in-law, Debbie Marquiss; sister-in-law, Andrea and Jenny Marquiss; niece, Lexie Marquiss; father-in-law, Jan "Jammer" Marquiss; and mother-in-law, Janine Marquiss. Todd was well liked, respected and well known within the community and the church. He was always telling jokes and making people laugh, which was one of his most precious qualities. Everyone who met him liked him. He had a passion for his family, God and educating friends and family on various topics, especially those that he was most passionate about. He will be missed by his loved ones, who celebrate that he is at peace with his creator.
Todd began his life in the San Francisco Bay area with his parents and two brothers until he was 12 years old. His father wanted to leave the big city and start a new life adventure in the Alaska Bush. So, they came to Anchorage in 1976 and took up residence on Jones Island, Trapper Lake, building their own log cabin and living on the island for about two years. He came back to civilization/Anchorage and graduated from West High School in 1982. Shortly after graduation, he started his entrepreneurial career by establishing the Peddle Around Bike Co., renting bikes to tourists from the Clarion Hotel. He became a concierge at the Holiday Inn, impressing some German manufacturers with his ease in the German language as he toured them around Anchorage. They offered him a job in Germany with their company Tegometal. While living there for 13 years he attended the university and received a degree in economics. He also met a German physicist and learned about the properties of water and nanotechnology. He brought that knowledge and passion back to Anchorage in 2004, applying the principles of water in his job with Alaska Glacier Products.
He was so proud of his wife and daughters, family and extended family. We will forever miss his warm smiles, optimistic spirit and joyful presence.
