Kenneth Lisbourne Obituary

Well known Inupiaq Eskimo artist Kenneth Lisbourne passed away battling pancreatic cancer on June 14, 2017, with his daughter by his side.
He was born in Point Hope, Alaska, to William Lisbourne Sr. and Myra Lisbourne on Oct. 21, 1950.
In the mid-1970s, he met his late wife, Iva Lisbourne, and they married in August 1980, residing in Tok, Alaska, where they built their home. In 1983, they adopted their daughter, Clara Lisbourne.
Both Ken and Iva were well known for their artwork, the "Iva Lisbourne doll"; Ken hand carved the faces.
After his wife passed in 2009, Ken began and continued to watercolor paint, which he is well known for. Later on, Ken met his now loving companion, Theresa Barr from Kotzebue, Alaska. Together they traveled across the U.S. and Canada, and through out Alaska.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Clara Lisbourne of Anchorage, Alaska; his loving companion, Theresa Barr of Kotzebue; siblings, Maria Barnes of Point Hope, Beatrice Ferguson of Kotzebue, Harry Lisbourne of Anchorage, Richard Lisbourne of Point Hope, Steven Lisbourne of Point Hope and Chester Melik of Point Hope.
Anchorage services are scheduled on June 21, 2017, at 3 p.m., at St. Mary's Church, 2222 East Tudor Road. Potluck reception will be held at The Anchorage Museum Atrium, 625 C Street, at 6:30 p.m.
Ken will be laid to rest in Point Hope at a date to be announced.

Dearest Clara, I am so very sorry for your great loss.
We will miss your father. He was such a kind and wonderful man. I am sure he told you how close we all wereMy mother is Claire Fejes, he called her Clara when he was a boy. You are named after her. She was an artist and she gave your father his first paper and watercolor paints so so many years ago.
