Randy and my Dad Lupe were life long friends. Dad was married to Randy's sister, Nancy. Although I have no memory of her, Dad spoke of her often and iterated what a good woman and wife she was. Dad and Randy enjoyed many adventures together far past the time that they were brother/brother-in-laws. They were loggers/truck drivers/ hard men with hearts of jello. They could be hard when the time called for it but in the end, they were men with soft hearts with no reason that prevented the job from getting done. My dad had one brother but Randy was a brother to him as well and he always spoke well of Randy. These two man are out of a western movie- their adventures likened to that of bar fights /gunfights and rescuing the girl. These two men are examples that I grew up watching. Their time was riddled with adventure and hard work-both of which I will never forget. These men could drive a truck, cut logs, and shake your hand like it's never been shook. These are the men I grew up with, these are the men that won't forget. These mean taught me that a shake was worth a thousand words. They gave you their word and took yours as such; if your word was no good, your money was no better. I am honored to have been a part of the legacy of such men. I have attached a picture of them together during an exploit after unloading logs harvested from the Mescalero Apache Reservation to the Eagar Mill in Springerville, AZ. Thanks Dad, Thanks Randy. You're never forgotten. One more thing, Randy passed on the 25th day of July 2009...Dad passed 25th February 2023. It's not the dates I remember but the fact that they arrived on the same day. Brotherhood.
